In oilfields drilling plant, normal working state of any system equipment is the basic requirement of drilling. Solids control system is one of the most important circulation system in the drilling process, and in last essay, three kinds of common faults and according solutions have been described. In this essay we will mainly talk about another tips of drilling mud solids control equipment operation, which will improve drilling efficiency to a great extent.
1/ drilling mu desilter and desander share the same suction tank. If desilter and desander share the same suction tank, then half of the drilling mud is separated by the desilter and the other half by the desander. That means there half drilling mud remains unprocessed by the desilter and the other half by the desander, which breaks the principle of continuous separating and the desander can not reduce the working load for the desilter.
2/ two centrifugal pumps are connected in parallel to one solids control unit. This is the common phenomenon in the total design and installation in solids control system. If the centrifugal pump pressure is 30 meters and the hopper nozzle flowing capacity is 25L/S, the 30 meters pressure head and the hopper nozzle speed is still the same as before. This will waste one centrifugal pump’s effect and this is one kind of waste.
If one pump is not able to satisfy the requested pressure, the other pump should not be collected by parallel construction. At first, the operator should check if the pump is in good working state, if the pump is well performed and still a pressure distance, then bigger impeller must be replaced. Before replace the impeller, check the motor of the pump is big enough to make sure the power supply to the unit.
