Shale shaker operation in deep water projects

In deep water projects, when the drilling fluid returns to the surface it gets quite colder than what it had been downhole which makes it thicker and more difficult to be handled on the shale shaker. I'd like to know if there is any procedure or guideline to prevent the mud from over boarding the shakers under this situation.

PLAN A: It seems that the most effective method is to employ more shale shakers on hand! Meanwhile working with GPM in order to maintain mud flow on shakers in proper shape

Plan B : that there is a problem that the NORMAL activities of that mud the temp goes down as the mud comes out, but it shouldn't drop fast. and another problem is that screens like warm mud, and often times you are faced with having to screen coarser to prevent overflow.

On deep water projects, you are going to want the best shale shakers that the rig can get their hands on, or as a fluid engineer, you need to speak up and inform your client that they are going to have a hard time keeping the fluid clean and will face higher dump rates and dilution rates because of it. As soroush mentions, increased shakers, are the common road, but higher capacity shakers are coming on line these days and can offer a step change in flow handling when operated and screened properly. Either road, you have to have a shaker hand or two in there that know their business, or you will always be reporting higher mud consumption rather than preventing it.
