Screw Conveyor is a main component of drilling fluid centrifuge. Its structure, materials and parameters are directly related to the separation effect, production capacity and service life of drilling fluid centrifuge. The only function of the spiral is to push sediment, but the requirements for it are different in the settling zone and the dry zone. The solid particles in the suspension in the settling zone gradually turn to the drum wall to form a sediment zone, and the spiral should be conducive to moving the sediment without stirring up the sediment violently, resulting in the mixing of the separated sediment and the liquid phase. The spiral in the dry zone should not only continue to move the sediment but also create favorable conditions for the separation of sediment and water.

The Screw Conveyor is generally composed of a spiral blade, an inner barrel and a feeding chamber.

The spiral blade is a part that directly contacts with sediment to transport sediment, and the common forms are:

A: Connect the whole spiral blade, commonly used and easy to manufacture

B: Continuous ribbon spiral blade, blade rigidity is poor, not much use, mainly used for precipitation separation.

C: Broken spiral blade

D: Spiral blade with additional blade

The helix has a single double head, because the double head helix is easy to process and conducive to balance, so the vast majority of the double head helix.

The spiral blade has two kinds of arrangement, one is that the spiral blade is perpendicular to the drum bus, which is easy to weld and correct, and is often used in design. One is that the blade is perpendicular to the axis of rotation.

Because the blade of the Screw Conveyor is directly in contact with the sludge, the blade has high requirements for the material, the blade needs to have high wear resistance, and the hard alloy is generally surfacing or spray welding on the surface of the blade, which is more difficult to process. At present, a new process for manufacturing wear-resistant blades has emerged, which is characterized by the use of wear-resistant pieces fixed on the tile workpiece by brazing, welding or bonding, and then welding the two-piece assembly to the spiral blade, so that the centrifuge can maintain a high production capacity.
